Although that Brad Simon wrote this essay. It was I who gave him this Diamond Setting information while he was in my home-office in Toronto, Canada.
I use a BUD-Bur to act as a guide for the High Speed Steel setting bur. If not used. your bur could wrap itself around the delicate claw and literally ruin the top of the ring. In my earlier days, this occurred on a regular basis, until I figured out what was happening and how I could avoid this in the future.
Now with these claws/prongs made accurately, there is little chance of error as the stone in gently placed into the 4-claw head.
