Does this multi-stone ring need repairing?

A friend of mine showed me her Mother's, 14karat ring that was made over 50 years ago. She asked me to look at it and, well my mind thought of another essay in the making. "Would I suggest repairing the well-worn claws?

My client already told me that one of the Garnets got lost, I think that she just might go with the CAD route.

In my estimation, the word "repairing" doesn't even enter this equation. I think that after 50 years of continual use, my jeweller would need to replace ALL of those badly worn claws.

What would be the best method? I think that CAD would be the best process. After viewing the Garnet stone ring, I see that many of the stones are badly crooked, or just barely staying in their claws. The cost of soldering each claw could be a monumental expense.

The construction CAD method will be in the nature of 3 pieces of claw settings. The first level would be for the smallest or top level of 6 stones, followed by the lowest level consisting of 12-14 stones.

The center will be a single stone for the largest gemstone, and all of the stone-set levels should and must be laser-soldered. "GARNETS & HEAT are never good friends".

All of the levels must be set with stones and then highly polished. Once this has been accomplished, it is then and only then will the jeweller assemble the top center stone and the three levels together. This will be a great ring for many generations to come.
