"V" shaped claws how are they prepared for stone setting? - 4 photos

One of the most intriguing claw patterns is the "V" shape. This style of claws can be used in so many stone shapes. The Rate of Difficulty is at about a '7 out of 10'.

The style of  "V" claws can be seen in Marquise, Pear Shape, and Triangular shapes, just to name a few designs.

I chose for this pattern, a single "V" shaped setting and had secured in my Portable Pin-Vise.

The claw setting should be held very tight and not allowing for any movement while in the clamp.

All of the claw setting MUST be highly polished prior to any stone setting. When the stone is in the setting, it is almost impossible to polish it clean.

Any 'contouring' of the inside claws must be done with the utmost care. The connecting plates in between the V claws should be polished again.
THIS "V" MUST BE IN PRISTINE CONDITION (in all areas.)
I can see many irregularities in these connecting areas, this is not at all acceptable.
I suggest in using a "Flat Pumice Wheel" of #180 grit to smooth any flat metal areas.

This essay was not used for stone setting, but if some of these facts aren't addressed, problems will surely occur. Regards from "Gerrylewy18@gmail.com".
