This 'finishing bur' is very essential in completing your task in rounding the claw tips. There is a simple solution in helping you to 'round' the tips of the claws. I prepared this solution and it works wonderfully.
The very first 'labour saving modification' that is required is to remove a section of the outer lip of the "77B" Cup bur. All the tools you need are an 'oil stone' and lubricating oil. Nothing else!
The reasons are many but so helpful, its a wonder that no one else has thought of this before.
At a slow speed on your handpiece have the rotating bur slowly grind the lip of the bur. What transpired is that the 'teeth of the bur' will be exposed. This what we are aiming for.
I chose (bought) just for this essay, a packet of large #77B, Cup Burs of #050, which is 5mm's in size.
Keep your surface of the oil-stone well lubricated, at all times. This rotating bur should be held at a 45degree angle, as the bur needs to be 'trimmed' at this angle.
You can see the new surface being exposed as it is being 'modified' on the oil-stone.
This photo displays the "before & after" views.
With the new shape of this new bur, lets see where it can be now used. Everywhere that there are claws.
One of the best areas areas of this redesigned bur is a new tip for making the Princess-Cut claw rounded. No more need of filing the tip of the claw.
Just a great idea, but with less labour and making any filing errors.
Here is the 'correct angle' of holding the rotating bur. At this angle this is exactly where the new rounded (smooth) surface will be seen.
