Why rub a "soft lead pencil" into your Polishing Papers? - 9 photos.

Suppose that you have a #1,000 grit polishing paper and you MUST NOW BUY a softer polishing paper? Instead of ordering online and spending many days for it to arrive, I have a better solution ... why not 'MAKE IT YOURSELF'.

Your problem is very easy to solve, and I'm sure you'll use this technique continually, as I use this all of the time.

Here are all of the 7 polishing papers inside of a plastic envelope ready to be shipped to a New York, Orchid client.

As an added feature I rubbed a soft pencil lead into sections of the many papers. She will be thrilled when she sees the new papers for what she ordered from me.

If you are interested, I will prepare the same package for you as well. Contact me via email:  gerrylewy18@gmail.com

This is my opportunity to give my polishing papers an added help in making them softer.

This paper in particular was made with an #800 grit, now with the pencil rubbing, it is now equivalent to #1,200 grit or more.

The soft lead from the pencil literally gets inside the pores of the paper and gives the steel graver more shine. This method is FANTASTIC in "Bright-Cutting" in Silver, Gold or even Platinum.

I'm using my own Flat graver as an example of how it can be used with no effort involved.

Here is an up-close photo of the soft core pencil doing the 'rubbing', don't press too heavily on the paper. If you do, it will tear the paper to shreds.

I shaved & contoured the soft pencil lead at an angle, as I needed to have a 'wide surface' contact.

Here is the actual name of the pencil (just for your records) "PRIMARY #1-309"
