Shared Claws on Diamonds!

Just as the name implies, you have two claws literally holding the two diamonds. It's usually four claws holding just one stone. I'll keep this 'text' limited, as the photographs show all of the setting steps being involved.
Once step that isn't shown, is the 'finishing procedure' in using my favourite 'friend', the pumice #180 grit wheel. Why use this method? Just look at the sides of some of the claws, no polishing wheel can safely remove those marks, lest all of the claws get reduced in width, thickness & height.
Just notice how little or if any space there is in between any of the two stones, they are literally "Girdle to Girdle!" (Examine the fifth & twelfth pictures, as you are scrolling down). Sometimes it's necessary to exchange 1-2 diamonds just to fit them into the ring...tightly!
Things have changed, how so? I would first carefully cup-bur the claw-tips today, by using a 77B Cup Bur. The bur should be larger that the tip of the claw, not the exact size as a little rim would appear around the outside edge of the claw/prong.
