How to prepare and use your "77B, (aka) Cup burs"? - 8 photos

  These specific burs have one purpose and that is to make the claws ROUND on the top. There is no other bur that can do this maneuver.

 Lets now investigate this bur, how its modified and finally how it can make your claw tips looking more professional.

============================================

This is the plastic package that all of these burs arrive to your tool supplier. The number '050' signifies the size of 5 mm's in diameter (THESE ARE BIG).

 You can see the metal around the teeth of the bur, lets get rid of this NOW, but how?

 This additional photo taken from my archives displays the 'before and after' burs.

You can see an angle of the modified bur on the right. This is what we are aiming for.

 Securing the bur at 45degrees and holding it against-on your oilstone and using much lubricant start the bur to rotate. Albeit slowly.

 In this photo, you can observe the action taking place, keep your bur well lubricated during this process.

     Here is another view of this bur 'modification'.

  All of this modification has just one purpose and that is to 'get the teeth of the bur closer' to the tip of the claw.

 The teeth of the bur needs to be closer to 'where the action is'.

  If you had to file each claw on this 'cluster ring', you'd have claws of all shapes and sizes. This "77B" bur does the work for you.

   BTW, all of my "77B" burs are individually modified, not just for this essay.
